Equipment Needed:

Our retailer is D & J Sports. If you tell them you are an Anderson High School swimmer upon checkout, you’ll receive a discount.

  • All swimmers must have the following equipment for practice each day; it is wise to purchase a swim bag, and very important to LABEL EVERYTHING!! The equipment we leave at the pool is secure, but things do get tossed around, and occasionally stuff falls out of bags. Kids lose things.
    • Running shoes for weight room / dry land days.
    • Fins: Either basic fins, cut short, or shorter fins. Only purchase Zoomers as a second option.
    • Paddles: Do not get large paddles; all you need is a couple of inches past the fingers. Again, the basic ones are all you need.
    • Pull Buoys and kickboards are mostly provided by the district (we have a team set), but don’t be afraid to get your own.
    • Other non-mandatory, yet helpful, options- snorkel, yoga mat- for dryland

Attendance Policy:

Practice is MANDATORY. Swimmers who miss more than three practices in a two week period will be suspended from participation in the next meet. Attendance resets after each meet. Multiple meet suspensions will result in dismissal from the team. Arriving tardy to practice or leaving early from practice four times within a meet period will also result in meet suspension. Swimmers are only allowed to leave early from practice for academic reasons three times per six-weeks grading period.

Club swimmers who have achieved a Sectional time cut, and are participating in a morning/afternoon training program will have an individualized and set schedule that they must follow.

Winter Holiday Training is MANDATORY and it is imperative that swimmers continue training with the team during this break due to the proximity of the championship meets. If it is unavoidable, family trips during this time will be excused as long as the absence has been communicated in writing to the head coach at least three weeks in advance. Please keep in mind that taking a break from training during this time of the season can have a negative effect on a swimmer’s end of season performances.

After a swimmer participates in his/her last meet of the season, they will be excused from practice. We will begin an off-season dryland training program in March. Every swimmer enrolled in first period must participate in off-season training at this time.

If a swimmer must miss practice due to an unexpected illness, family emergency, or other circumstance, this must be communicated to the coach in writing as soon as possible. Failure to communicate an absence before practice will result in an unexcused absence.  Frequent unexcused absences or tardies will result in dismissal from the team.
