Way to go at Districts!
The district meet was held Friday January 27th and Saturday January 28th. We had a great meet - Qualifying for the finals were: Samantha Blount, Jeremy Nicot, Miles Passeur, Delaney Raper, Szilvia Haide, ChrisAnne Laskowski, YoungJae Hur, Tory Paranagua, Claire Keating, Jack Foster, Patrick Cantu, Danny Murray, Kaitlyn Daniels, Josh Tomazin, Reid Cline, Garret VanderStoep, Matthew Mahavier, Katie Beckham and Blair Dixon. YoungJae won the Individual Medley, ChrisAnne won the breaststroke for the second year (and sixth consecutive year for Anderson) and the girls’ sprint relay came away with a first place finish. Lyle Markham was named the Boys’ District 15-5A Diver of the Year, while Robert King came in second. Seventeen Trojan swimmers and divers qualified for Regionals. The team is also proud of Coach Juli Zamora, who was named "District Girls Coach of the year"! The team was also very pleased to see Coach Shaw, the Anderson Athletic director, show up at the meet to cheer for the team. He received one of the cool Nike team shirts! Congratulations to everyone, and good luck at the Regionals meet next month. |

The Trojan Swimming and Diving Team placed 5th in the 5A division at the Capitol City Classic Meet October 28th. 28 teams from around Central Texas were present. Winning events for the Trojans were all sensational sophomores: YoungJae Hur in the 200 IM, Lyle Markman in Diving, and in a great birthday performance- Tory Paranagua in the 50 Freestyle. Other team members scoring points for the Trojans were: Sam Blount- 7th in the 200 Free, Delaney Raper- 5th in the 200 IM and 7th in the 500 Free, Szilvia Haide- 7th in the 50 Free and 100 Free, Robert King- 3rd in Diving, Kaitlyn Daniels- 6th in the 500 Free, ChrisAnne Laskowski- 4th in the 100 Breastsroke (after running at the Cross Country District meet at 8:30am), and Matthew Mahavier- 4th in the 100 Breaststroke. The Girls and Boys 200 Medley Relays placed 5th- Kaitlyn, ChrisAnne (and Blair Dixon), Delaney, and Tory; Reid Cline, Matthew, Jack Foster, and Patrick Cantu. The Girls 200 Free Relay placed 2nd- Szilvia, Claire Keating, Sam, and Tory The Girls and Boys 400 Free Relays placed 5th- Sam, Claire, Kaitlyn, Szilvia; Josh Tomazin, Jeremy Nicot, Reid, and YoungJae. The meet highlight was a swim-off for 9th place in the 100 Free between Reid and a Westlake swimmer in which Reid won by .12 and dropped 1.5 seconds off his prelim time. Combined Team Scores

Congrats to new and old National Honor Society Members!
The Anderson Swim Team was well represented at the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on October 16th. No fewer than seven of our swimmers joined the NHS, to join four Senior swimmers who were inducted last year. Congrats to Senior Casey Swenson and Juniors - Bari Beilinson, Reid Cline, Kaitlyn Daniels, Jack Foster, Elizabeth Kravitz and Dan Murray - who joined Seniors Claire Keating, Chris Anne Laskowski, Sarah Nygaard and Leah Schell to earn this honor. |
